The company is backing its global brand ambassador, Lin-Manuel Miranda, as he reprises his role of Alexander Hamilton in the limited-run of Hamilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico, all in support of the arts. Through a variety of ways, American Express continues to back small businesses in Puerto Rico, read more about it on their site.
On January 12, Miranda attended a meet and greet hosted by American Express.

Over the weekend of the opening of Hamilton in Puerto Rico, Jimmy Fallon taped a special episode of his show dedicated to the island. While there, the host visited Lin-Manuel Miranda on-set and donned full costume to perform “The Story of Tonight” with the cast, with updated lyrics for The Tonight Show.

On January 11, Hamilton opened in Puerto Rico, with Lin-Manuel Miranda as its leading character once again. He was welcomed on stage with such entusiasm that the show stopped for almost a minute, as The New York Times describes:
It was Friday night in San Juan — the first performance, and also the opening night, of a 17-day run of “Hamilton” in Puerto Rico — and as soon as the crowd caught sight of the show’s 38-year-old creator and star, it drenched him in applause, forcing a momentary pause, the actors frozen mid-scene while the patrons unleashed a storm of appreciation born, of course, of fandom, but also of something deeper.
