During the special aired to celebrate Biden/Harris Inauguration Day on January 20, “Celebrating America”, Lin-Manuel Miranda recited one of President Biden favourite poems, Seamus Heaney’s “The Cure at Troy,” from the United Palace in New York.

Miranda and his parents, Luis and Dr Luz Town-Miranda, also made a brief appearance during Demi Lovato’s perfomance, around 1.20.00 of the full special.

During the ceremony, Amanda Gorman stole the show with her poem “The Hill We Climb”, and later thanked Lin-Manuel Miranda, revealing on Twitter that she had included two references to Hamilton. On January 21, while she was guest on Good Morning America, Miranda sent her a suprise video message.

Lin-Manuel and Luis Miranda were part of the Latino Inaugural Special on January 19 as well, where they performed “En Mi Viejo San Juan.”
