[ Written on October 25 2018 by ]

Everytown for Gun Safety releases celeb-filled PSA for Election Day. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Kevin Bacon, Michael J. Fox, Julianne Moore and many other stars encourage voters to “make a plan” for their trips to the ballot box so they can vote for “candidates who will actually do something about our country’s gun violence crisis” in next month’s midterm elections.
Check out the video and the screen captures in our Gallery.

This isn’t the only campaign Miranda participates in during the midterm elections: he is one o the faces of When We All Vote and, according to NBC Latino, “partnered with the Hispanic Federation to announce that Billboard Music award-winning artist Frankie Negrón reinvented the salsa classic “Mi Gente” (“My People”) from belated music icon and Fania All Stars’ Hector Lavoe into a jingle titled “Respeta Mi Gente” (“Respect My People”) — the same name of a non-partisan coalition that seeks to motivate tens of thousands of Puerto Ricans in Florida already registered to vote.”

According to the press release, “the Hispanic Federation has made the first investment of $1 million. Nespresso has also committed $1 million, and The Rockefeller Foundation has given $500k. The Starbucks Foundation has given $470k, and Starbucks also donated 2 million high quality, climate-resilient coffee seeds. TechnoServe, an international non-profit with a long history of work in the coffee sector, will lead implementation of the program with a Puerto Rican-led team.”
